Choosing Your LIPA Accommodation - What to Consider

At TJT Students, we offer a wide range of affordable and safe accommodation for LIPA students, situated either in the centre of the city or closer to the campus. All of our accommodation is let on a fully furnished and all-inclusive basis, with total cost transparency, meaning that you can easily budget for your living costs and have enough left over to enjoy the bustling nightlife and exciting adventures that you are sure to embark upon.

Cost

The cheapest student accommodation that we offer is Derby Buildings, coming in at only £73 per week, and for this very affordable price, you will enjoy your own room in a purpose built flat, with a bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet, chest of drawers, desk, chair and pin board. Each room has a TV point and ethernet port and you will be able to make use of the communal kitchen and laundry areas.

Derby Buildings is located on an excellent and regular bus route from which you can access LIPA and the city centre in just 15 minutes.

​

Other student accommodation options offered by TJT Students are located in Camden Street and Lime Court, both of which are situated in the heart of the city centre and attract a slightly higher rent, though with the advantage of lower commuting costs.

​

Deposit

To reserve your preferred room, you will be required to pay a deposit equivalent to one week's rent. This will be deducted from your first rent payment when you move in.

Location

Many students choose to commute on foot, on a scooter or by bicycle to save money and increase fitness and wellbeing, and we therefore recommend selecting a property that offers safe, off-road access to LIPA to enable them to enjoy this journey. Others are happy to use public transport in which case, choosing a property on a public transport route is essential.

​

Liverpool is a major student hub, and it is likely that you will meet many more people from other universities if you choose to live in the city centre, whereas opting for accommodation closer to LIPA makes it more likely that you will form connections with other people studying at the same university as you.

​

If you have any disabilities or mobility challenges, you must ensure that the accommodation you choose is suitable for your needs, for example, offering en-suite accommodation and lifts to access the higher floors.

Accommodation Type

LIPA does not have any on-site halls of residence and relies on its students securing appropriate off-site student accommodation. They recommend that students seek accommodation that offers all-inclusive bills, 24/7 security and maintenance support. The two main types of accommodation that we offer are studio apartments and flats.

Studio apartments allow students to have their own fully equipped space, consisting of a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, a kitchen and a lounge space. The majority of studio apartments have a communal outdoor space for all residents to enjoy and secure bike storage. These are most popular with mature students and those who want home to be a quiet haven after a busy day.

Our student flats usually consist of a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a fitted kitchen. Living areas, social spaces and outdoor areas will be shared by all of the building's occupants.

​

House shares allow students to rent a room in a shared house. This offers the most social living experience, with kitchens, bathrooms, living areas and outdoor space typically being shared among all occupants.

Liverpool & LIPA

Liverpool is a great city, with excellent public transport networks and safe, off-road green space, safe for walkers and cyclists. LIPA is well situated, being only a 5 minutes cycle ride away from the city centre.

About the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts

LIPA was founded in 1996 by Sir Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty to offer creative students the opportunity to secure a degree in performing arts, including acting, filmmaking, dance, music and sound technology. With only 250 places on offer each year, competition for space is fierce and you should be incredibly proud of yourself if you have been offered a space for the upcoming academic year.

• Camden Street Student Accommodation: Our LIPA student accommodation in Camden Street is located in the heart of the city centre, close to Liverpool Lime Street train station. It consists of three four-storey converted townhouses, each offering six en-suite bedrooms, a communal fitted kitchen with a washing machine and a spacious living room. The Camden Street accommodation offers a perfect base for socialising and relaxing in a homely environment.

• Lime Court Student Accommodation: Lime Court student accommodation consists of six flats with a communal lounge and laundry room. It is situated above the World's Apart comic book shop, making this the perfect choice for students with a passion for pop culture.

• Derby Buildings: Derby Buildings consists of four flats, capable of accommodating up to 24 students, each with its own well-equipped bedroom and sharing a fully fitted kitchen and laundry area. Derby Buildings is a short bus ride from LIPA but within walking distance of the city centre, making it a popular choice with students on a budget who want to be close to the action.
